This Scania Vabis belonging to Geoffrey Reyner was new in 1967 and is pictured here on Ashton New Road in Manchester. Geoffrey Reyner Ltd. was established in 1953 and remained in the ownership of the Reyner family until it was sold to the Safe group on 20th December 2005. Originally based in Bridgeford St. Manchester the company moved to Royal Mill, Droylsden in 1966 and remained there until 2001 when the company moved it's 84 staff and vehicles to Earl Mill in Oldham. In 2005 the company was sold and the haulage side ceased trading joining a long list of long established haulage companies that no longer exist.

    Various North West Truck Companies
    Welcome
With it's strategic position in the British Isles and great access to the motorway network the Northwest of England has always had an abundance of transport companies.
This gallery is intended to show many of the various companies vehicles with many images from the past and some from the present.
Over the years i have collected many old photographs and thought i would show some of them on this site.
A few of the older images feature Ted Kershaw who as well as being a heavy goods driver was also a keen photographer.
With thanks to his son Jack for letting me use some of his late father's images.

Also a very special thanks to the many well known truck photographers mainly Peter J Davies, Arthur Ingram and the late Roger Kenney without whose dedication, help and co-operation this site would not have been possible.

If you have a photograph of a Northwest transport company and would like it to be included in this gallery please forward it via email to scottsofoldham@hotmail.com

Thanks for looking in there are regular updates to the site so please come back soon.

    Paul Anderson.

This Albion Caledonian 687 STJ is pictured here at the now demolished Huncoat Power Station. Gilbraiths bought several of these Albion eight wheelers, for tipper, tanker and general work. Rumours abound as to why Gilbraiths bought these Albion's some say it was because they were lighter than the Octopus others that they were cheaper or even that Leyland could not supply any Octopus vehicles at the time.
